Maddie Rooney | PWHL

Maddie Rooney is a professional women’s hockey netminder from Andover, Minnesota. Signed as a free agent, Rooney is currently a member of the PWHL’s Minnesota Frost.

After her high school career at Andover High, Rooney played collegiate hockey for the University of Minnesota-Duluth. In 122 career NCAA games, Rooney averaged a .926 save percentage and 2.27 GAA. While playing for the Bulldogs, Rooney earned her spot on Team USA.

Internationally, Rooney has two World Championship gold medals and an Olympic gold medal as a member of USA’s senior national team. Rooney won World gold in 2017 and 2019, and Olympic gold in 2018.

Rooney was not selected in the inaugural 2023 PWHL Draft but was immediately signed by PWHL Minnesota to a two-year contract. As a member of PWHL Minnesota, Rooney won the inaugural Walter Cup title.
