Ann-Renee Desbiens | PWHL

Ann-Renee Desbiens is a professional women’s hockey player from Clermont, Quebec. The goaltender currently plays for the PWHL’s Montreal Victoire.

Desbiens is one of Canada’s most decorated netminders. In 2011 she first represented Canada at the U-18 World Championships winning silver. Following her minor hockey career, Desbiens played NCAA D1 hockey for the University of Wisconsin. She was twice a First Team All-American, and is one of only four goaltenders ever to win the Patty Kazmaier Award. Desbiens captured the honour in 2017. That season she posted a 0.74 GAA, .963 save percentage, and 17 shutouts in 35 games.

Internationally Desbiens has backstopped Canada to Olympic and World Championship gold medals. At the 2022 World Championships, Desbiens was named the tournament’s Best Goaltender.

Professionally, Desbiens spent three seasons with the PWHPA, including backstopping Team Harvey’s to a Dream Gap Tour title in 2022-23. When the PWHL was announced, Desbiens was one of the inaugural signings of PWHL Montreal. Ann-Renee Desbiens currently plays for the Montreal Victoire.
