Ella Shelton is a professional women’s hockey player from Ingersoll, Ontario. Shelton was a first round pick in the inaugural PWHL Draft. She currently plays for the PWHL’s New York Sirens.
Shelton played her NCAA women’s hockey at Clarkson University. As a member of the Golden Knights, Shelton won 2017 and 2018 NCAA national titles. She was an All-American in 2020 and an ECAC First Team All-Star. In her senior season, Shelton served as team captain.
Following the NCAA, Shelton made her senior national team debut with Team Canada. As a member of Team Canada, Shelton won her first World Championship gold medal in 2021 and Olympic gold in 2022. She’s since added more gold.
Professionally, Shelton spent three seasons in the PWHPA playing for Team Scotiabank in the final season of the Dream Gap Tour.
At the inaugural 2023 PWHL Draft, Shelton was selected in the first round, 4th overall by the New York Sirens. Shelton signed a three year contract with New York.
