Marie-Philip Poulin is a professional women’s hockey player from Beauceville, Quebec. Poulin is currently the captain of the Montreal Victoire.
Poulin, widely considered the best women’s hockey player of her generation, also captains Team Canada. As a teenager, Poulin was the CWHL’s Rookie of the Year in 2008. That season she scored 22 goals and 43 points in 16 games with the Montreal Stars. The same season, Poulin was the Best Forward at the U-18 World Championships. She led the tournament in scoring with 14 points in five games.
Poulin won a second silver with Canada at the U-18 World Championships the following year. That season, 2009, Poulin made her senior national team debut winning silver.
In 2010, Poulin represented Canada at her first Olympic Games in Vancouver. She scored the game winning goal in the gold medal game against USA and was an Olympic All-Star. Eventually dubbed “Captain Clutch,” Poulin scored the game winning goal at three Olympic Games. Poulin has more than a dozen medals representing Canada. She’s been a World Championship and Olympic All-Star multiple times.
Collegiately, Poulin played for Boston University. She was named a First Team All-American in 2015. Poulin totalled 181 points in 111 games with the Terriers.
Following the NCAA, Poulin spent three seasons in the CWHL playing for the Montreal Canadiennes. Poulin led the CWHL in scoring each of those seasons winning the Angela James Bowl. She was also the CWHL’s MVP each year, receiving the Jayna Hefford Trophy.
When the CWHL dissolved, Poulin joined the PWHPA. She spent three seasons on the Dream Gap Tour, winning the Secret Cup as champions with Team Harvey’s in the circuit’s final season in 2022-23.
In 2023, Poulin signed as an inaugural member of PWHL Montreal. She was immediately named team captain signing a three-year contract. In the PWHL’s first season, Marie-Philip Poulin was a First Team All-Star.
