Sophie Jaques | PWHL

Sophie Jaques is a professional women’s hockey player from Toronto, Canada. She currently plays for the PWHL’s Minnesota Frost. Jaques was drafted in the second round, 10th overall by PWHL Boston in the inaugural PWHL Draft.

Jaques spent five seasons in the NCAA playing for Ohio State. In 2022 and 2023 Jaques earned back-to-back WCHA Defensive Player of the Year honors. During her graduate season, Jaques recorded 24 goals and 48 points in 41 games. The year prior she scored 59 points in 38 games leading Ohio State to a national championship. As a graduate player ,Jaques was awarded the Patty Kazmaier Award as the NCAA’s top player.

After her selection by PWHL Boston, Jaques signed a three-year contract. Early in the inaugural season however, Jaques was part of the PWHL’s first ever trade. The deal sent Jaques to the Minnesota Frost in exchange for Susanna Tapani and Abby Cook. In Minnesota, Jaques flourished and was eventually named to the PWHL’s All-Rookie team. Jaques won her first Walter Cup with the Minnesota Frost in 2024.
