Sophie Shirley is a professional women’s hockey player from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She currently is a forward for the PWHL’s Boston Fleet.
Prior to college, Shirley won a pair of silver medals at the U-18 World Championships representing Canada. At the 2017 tournament, Shirley was named Best Forward. Shirley took a unique path to the NCAA spending a season playing in the CWHL prior to the NCAA. She spent the 2017-18 season in the CWHL with the Calgary Inferno. Scoring 19 points in 26 games, Shirley was named the CWHL Rookie of the Year.
Heading to the NCAA in 2018-19, Shirley spent five seasons with the University of Wisconsin. With the Badgers, Shirley won three NCAA national titles.
At the inaugural 2023 PWHL Draft, Sophie Shirley became the 63rd overall pick of PWHL Boston. She currently plays for the Boston Fleet.
