Season-By-Season History

2024 Season

The Sceptres were part of the PWHL’s first ever game on January 1, 2024 at Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto. The rink, formerly Maple Leaf Gardens, served as Toronto’s home arena for their first season. Toronto sold out every home game during the PWHL’s first season. The team averaged 3,912 fans during their inaugural season, including 19,285 fans at the first Battle on Bay Street at Scotiabank Arena. Toronto won the 2024 regular season title finished with 47 points and a 13-4-0-7 record in year one. Toronto, however, was eliminated by the eventual Walter Cup champions, PWHL Minnesota, 3-2 in the opening round of playoffs. Toronto dominated the PWHL Awards following the 2024 season. Natalie Spooner won the league’s MVP and Best Forward honors. She led the PWHL in scoring with 20 goals and 27 points in 24 games. Netminder Kristen Campbell was named the PWHL Goaltender of the Year, while Troy Ryan was named PWHL Coach of the Year. Representing the Toronto Sceptres on the PWHL’s All-Star teams were Campbell and Spooner, both named First Team All-Stars. Renata Fast and Sarah Nurse were Second Team All-Stars, while Emma Maltais was named to the PWHL’s All-Rookie Team.

2024-25 Season

Prior to the 2024-25 season, Toronto signed free agents Daryl Watts from Ottawa and Emma Woods from New York. Early in the 2024-25 season, Toronto made their first ever trade sending Jocelyn Larocque and Victoria Bach to the Ottawa Charge in exchange for Savannah Harmon and Hayley Scamurra.
