Hadley Hartmetz stepped off the ice with the Ohio State Buckeyes last March after suffering a lower body injury. After a year away from the game recovering, Hartmetz will make her long awaited return tonight. This time however, Hartmetz will step back onto the ice at the professional level as a member of the PWHL’s Boston Fleet.
Boston selected Hartmetz 40th overall at the PWHL Draft. In November, the team signed Hartmetz, but placed her immediately onto LTIR.
“Hadley is an exciting add to our d-core,” said Boston Fleet General Manager Danielle Marmer at the time. “She fits nicely into our physical, hard defending style, while also providing transportability and offensive involvement. She brings a competitiveness and work ethic that will push her teammates and make us better. We’re fortunate to be in Boston where we have access to the best medical resources to allow Hadley to not only recover but to continue her development, so she comes back even stronger than before.”
Hartmetz scored 33 points in 39 games last year for the Ohio State Buckeyes and helped her team win an NCAA national championship. She was one of four Buckeyes blueliners selected in the 2024 PWHL Draft. That group includes Cayla Barnes, Lauren Bernard, and Stephanie Markowski.
Hartmetz joins an already deep Boston blueline. She’ll make her PWHL debut tonight against the Montreal Victoire.
