Liberty University won the 2025 ACHA Division 1 women’s hockey national title Friday night. Facing Maryville University, the two teams played into a double-overtime championship game which eventually ended with Liberty winning it all.
Senior foward Zosia Adamek scored the winner for Liberty 2:06 into the second overtime.
“You play five periods of hockey and our girls were running on fumes, but they were resilient,” said Liberty head coach Chris Lowes. “Zosia (Adamek) just made a great play. You need a hero in overtime and that was Zosia.”
Maryville scored the opening goal of the game when Haley Beckett got her team on the board at 12:54 of the second period. Emerson Oakes answered for Liberty on the power play in the third period.
“It’s a big win for our program. They’re all special, but this group had a really incredible year,” said Lowes. “There was something about this tournament.”
Alexandra Keith stopped 36 of the 37 shots she faced for Liberty in the win.
