There are only 10 games remaining on the PWHL schedule for the New York Sirens. Hypothetically, the Sirens could amass up to 30 points in that stretch if they earned a regulation win in each. Realistically however, the Sirens find themselves last overall, and in a fight for their playoff lives.
Through 20 games this season, the Sirens have 22 points. In their first 20 games, the Sirens have only won four games in regulation and have a -10 goal differential, by far the worst in the PWHL.
After their loss to the Ottawa Charge Thursday, New York now sits five points back from fifth in the PWHL standings, and seven points back from the final playoff spot which is held by the Minnesota Frost.
From top to bottom in the PWHL, New York is 15 points behind first place Montreal, however the Victoire also have two games in hand.
The New York Sirens are not far ahead of their pace from last season when the team finished last in the PWHL with 26 points in 24 games. They eventually won the PWHL’s first overall pick accumulating Gold Plan points. With time running out, the Sirens will need every point they can get to make the 2024-25 Walter Cup playoffs.
