Grace Elliott of the University of British Columbia was named a U Sports First Team All-Canadian, and won the Brodrick Trophy as U Sports Player of the Year.
Elliott was the first University of British Columbia women’s hockey player in program history to be named U Sports Player of the Year. She led the nation in scoring with 22 goals and 42 points in 28 games. Both were program records. The second leading scorer in Canada was 10 points behind Elliott, who also led Canada West with a +28 rating.
Headlining the Second Team was U Sports Rookie of the Year Daphné Boutin. The Bishop’s Gaiters defender had 20 points in 21 games.
All-Canadians Announced
Joining Elliott as a First Team All-Canadian was Émilie Lussier of Concordia. Lussier was a member of the U Sports All-Rookie team and was a Second Team All-Canadian last season. OUA Player of the Year Carly Orth (Waterloo) rounds out the forward group. Leonie Philbert (Concordia) and Madison Laberge (Nipissing) were First Team All-Canadian defenders, while Dalhousie’s Grace Beer was the First Team goaltender.
Maude Pépin joined her Bishop’s teammate Daphné Boutin as a Second Team All-Canadian. Nipissing Maggie McKee and Mount Royal’s Aliya Johma were also named Second Team forwards. Alongside Boutin on the blueline, Mackenzie Lothian of St. FX was recognized, as was Alberta netminder Grace Glover.
The U Sports All-Rookie team includes Boutin, Wilfrid Laurier’s Clara Chisholm and Sarah Howell, Sydney Hood (Brock), Naomi Morin (Ottawa), and Noémie Fontaine (Bishop’s).
Other Major Awards Handed Out
Concordia Stingers head coach Julie Chu was named the U Sports Fox40 Coach of the Year for the second straight season. After coaching Concordia to a national championship in 2024, she guided the Stingers to a 20-1-0 record this season. University of British Columbia netminder Elise Hugens was named the Marion Hilliard Award winner recognizing Canada’s top women’s hockey player combining community service and student-athletics. Hugens is a dedicated volunteer to SuperHEROS Hockey, Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, and other organizations.
