The 2024-25 PWHL Takeover Tour was an incredible success. The tour saw packed houses in Vancouver, Edmonton, and Quebec City in Canada. It also set new American pro women’s hockey attendance records in Denver and Detroit.
In total, the tour stopped in nine cities – Vancouver, Edmonton, Quebec City, Seattle, Denver, Detroit, Raleigh, Buffalo, and the final stop, in St. Louis.
“It’s always exciting going into new markets,” said Boston forward Shay Maloney. “We get the opportunity to play in an arena full of fresh faces and extend the game to places that aren’t typical within our regular season. We loved the opportunity to play in Seattle and Buffalo, and now playing in front of a new crowd in St. Louis, we’re definitely excited for it as a team.”
In total, the PWHL averaged 14,378 fans at their first eight stops of the tour, totalling 115,023 fans. This is despite a sub-10,000 fan stop in Buffalo, New York.
Attendance across the PWHL is up this year averaging 7,333 fans through 75 games.
While the stop in St. Louis marks the end of the PWHL Takeover Tour, and also opens the door for an expansion announcement for one or two of the markets on this year’s tour, there’s more on the line.
For the Ottawa Charge, they currently sit two points out of the fourth and final playoff spot with only five games remaining. Boston’s playoff spot does not look in jeopardy, but they still have time to catch second place Toronto, or be caught by Minnesota or Toronto.
Puck drop is at 1pm CST.
