After helping their teams to regular-season finale series sweeps, Minnesota’s Hannah Clark and Ohio State’s Mira Jungåker joined Wisconsin’s duo of Kirsten Simms and Caroline Harvey in earning the final set of Western Collegiate Hockey Association weekly awards presented by OS Hockey.

Simms earned her second Forward of the Week honor of the season, while teammate Harvey claimed her sixth Defender of the Week award this season after their performance in the Badgers’ series sweep over Bemidji State. For the second time this season, Minnesota’s Clark was tabbed the Goaltender of the Week while Ohio State’s Jungåker earned her first Rookie of the Week accolade. 

WCHA Forward of the Week

Kirsten Simms, Jr., Wisconsin (Plymouth, Mich.)
KirstenSimms recorded six points in Wisconsin’s series sweep over Bemidji State en route to earning her second Forward of the Week honor of the season. The junior forward recorded two assists in Friday’s 6-1 win and followed up with her second career hat trick and an assist in Saturday’s 6-1 victory. Simms’ six points on the weekend were tied for the most in the league with linemate Casey O’Brien

Other Nominees: Ella Huber, Minnesota; Claire Vekich, Minnesota State; Jocelyn Amos, Ohio State. 

WCHA Defender of the Week

Caroline Harvey, Jr., Wisconsin (Salem, N.H.)
For the sixth time this season, Wisconsin’s Caroline Harvey was named the Defender of the Week. In Wisconsin’s series sweep against Bemidji State, Harvey recorded two points along with two blocked shots. On Friday in the Badgers’ 6-1 win, Harvey recorded a goal and an assist. Harvey broke the Wisconsin program record for the most points in a single season by a defender with her goal on Friday. The junior defender now has 51 points on the season. 

Other Nominees: Kianna Roeske, Minnesota State; Emma Peschel, Ohio State.

WCHA Goalie of the Week

Hannah Clark, Fr. Minnesota (Oshawa, Ontario)
After closing out the regular season with an undefeated weekend in the net against Minnesota Duluth, Minnesota’s Hannah Clark was named the Goaltender of the Week. In Friday’s 3-2 win over the Bulldogs, Clark recorded 28 saves and followed up with a shutout performance on Saturday while collecting 22 saves. On the weekend, Clark made 50 saves against 52 shots, recording a save percentage of .962, and notching her second career shutout. The rookie netminder also became the first Gopher goaltender to win at least 20 games as a freshman.

Other Nominees: Hailey Hansen, Minnesota State; Amanda Thiele, Ohio State.

WCHA Rookie of the Week

Mira Jungåker, D, Ohio State (Jönköping, Sweden)
Mira Jungåker earned her first Rookie of the Week honor for her performance in Ohio State’s series sweep over St. Cloud State. The rookie defender tied for the team lead with three assists and three blocked shots in the series sweep. Jungåker recorded an assist on both of Ohio State’s power-play goals in Friday’s 5-3 series-opening win before following up on Saturday with an assist on the game-winning goal in the 3-2 victory. Jungåker’s two-point performance on Friday was the fourth multi-point game of her career.
