The University of Wisconsin Badgers earned the top seed at the 2025 NCAA women’s hockey national championships.

Wisconsin was followed in the top five selections by Ohio State (#2), Cornell (#3), Minnesota (#4), and Colgate (#5). Each of the top five programs came from the WCHA or ECAC.

At Look At The Schedule

Wisconsin will host a regional tournament round at LaBahn Arena. They’ll watch as Hockey East champions Boston University face off against Clarkson on March 13. Clarkson enters with a prominent group of PWHL Draft prospects on their roster. That group includes Nicole Gosling, Haley Winn, and Anne Cherkowski. The winner of that game will play Wisconsin on March 15 for a chance to advance to the NCAA Frozen Four.

In Columbus, Ohio, the #2 Ohio State Buckeyes will await the winner of Penn State and St. Lawrence for their own quarter-final contest.

ECAC champions Cornell will host a regional round in Ithica, New York featuring Minnesota-Duluth and Sacred Heart. Sacred Heart is the underdog at the tournament. Sacred Heart won the NEWHA title for an automatic berth. No NEWHA team has ever advanced beyond the opening round of the NCAA national tournament.

The final game will take place in Minneapolis at Ridder Arena between the #4 University of Minnesota and #5 Colgate. Minnesota upset Ohio State in the WCHA semi-finals. The fell to Wisconsin 4-3 on a goal with 25 seconds remaining in the WCHA finals. They enter their March 15 game riding a high, while Colgate is coming off a dissappointing loss to Cornell in the ECAC final.

Minnesota will hope to advance to the NCAA Frozen Four at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The semi-finals take place on March 21 and the national championship game scheduled for March 23 at Ridder.
